Who We Are
Counseling and Psychiatry Services (CAPS) is one of six departments in the Student Health and Well-Being Unit at the University of South Carolina. We offer a variety of in-person and virtual services, including individual, couples, group therapy, workshops, and self-help options for currently enrolled students at the Columbia campus.
CAPS is committed to serving students from diverse backgrounds, including varying races, cultures, socioeconomic statuses, orientations, identities, and abilities. In addition to clinical care, we are an accredited training facility for graduate-level psychology, counseling, and social work interns.
We use a Stepped-Care Model to connect students with the appropriate level of care based on their individual needs.
Our Mission
To provide holistic high-quality mental health services to students in order to support their functioning, growth and development so that they can continue to be successful members of the university community.
