History of the Early American Republic
The Department of History and the Center for American Civic Leadership and Public Discourse invite applications from scholars specializing in the political thought and legal history of the Early American Republic (1789–1840).
Areas of particular interest include early national jurisprudence, civic cultures and American political development. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to teach courses on the history of the Early Republic, republicanism and constitutional thought, and the American founding documents.
Required qualification: A Ph.D. in History or a closely related field by the time of appointment.

Theories of Civil Society and Civil Discourse
The Department of Political Science and the Center for American Civic Leadership and Public Discourse invite applications from scholars of civil society and public discourse in the American tradition.
Candidates’ research should examine the norms, practices and institutions that sustain a flourishing and pluralistic civil society, along with citizens’ responsibilities within it. Preferred candidates will draw on historical traditions of American civic thought to address contemporary issues in public discourse, political polarization and civic engagement.
Required qualification: A Ph.D. in Political Science or a closely related field by the start date.
