Course List
The 60 credit hour curriculum includes thirteen (13) required courses, three (3) clinical rehabilitation specialization courses, a practicum, an internship, and one (1) elective. The program also includes a comprehensive assessment in the semester in which a student intends to graduate. Students are required to receive a passing grade on the comprehensive assessment.

Internships
Integral to your training, you will complete a 600-hour supervised internship in a state agency, community program, or private organization. This clinical field-based experience can be fulfilled full-time over a single full semester or part-time over two full semesters. In special cases, you can also arrange for an out-of-state internship. Your internship experience will provide you with an opportunity to develop and enhance your skills within the context of a real practice setting to prepare you for the role and responsibilities of an entry-level professional counselor.
Student Involvement
Students may individualize their professional preparation by electing to participate in a wide range of counseling and rehabilitation activities or by working with faculty members on rehabilitation research projects. We also encourage all students to become involved in professional counseling organizations such as the American Counseling Association and the American Rehabilitation Counseling Association.
Certifications and Licensure
Graduates of the program are eligible to take the national exam that leads to the Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) credential as well as the national exam for National Certified Counselor (NCC) credential. Graduates are also eligible to take either the National Counselor Examination (NCE) or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE) that leads to the Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) credential in South Carolina.
