Dr. Stacy Fritz serves as the Chief Health Officer and Associate Vice President for Student Health and Well-Being at the University of South Carolina. In this role, she provides strategic leadership across a wide portfolio of units dedicated to student and employee well-being, including Student Health Services, Counseling and Psychological Services, Campus Recreation, Substance Abuse Prevention and Education, Healthy Campus Initiatives, and Employee Well-Being.
A dedicated health professional, researcher, and mentor, Dr. Fritz brings a visionary approach to holistic wellness, aiming to enhance the student experience through collaboration, innovation, and action. Her deep understanding of the USC community and background in public health positions her to drive initiatives that support students' personal and academic success.
Prior to this appointment, Dr. Fritz served as Chief of Staff to University President Michael Amiridis, where she acted as the president’s primary liaison and advisor on both internal and external matters. She played a pivotal role in organizing and implementing presidential initiatives and strategic planning efforts.
Dr. Fritz is also a professor in the Department of Exercise Science at the Arnold School of Public Health, where she has earned recognition for her excellence in teaching and research. Her numerous accolades include a 2024 induction into the University of Kentucky’s College of Health Sciences Hall of Fame, the Golden Synapse Award for the most outstanding article in the Journal of Neurologic Physical Therapy(2022), and selection as a finalist for USC’s Michael J. Mungo Graduate Teaching Award (2020).
She holds a Ph.D. in Rehabilitation Sciences from the University of Florida, and both her bachelor’s degree in health sciences and master’s degree in physical therapy from the University of Kentucky.
