Public Information Director I (Director of Marketing and Public Relations), $53,576 per year. USC Sumter. The Director of Marketing and Public Relations plans and directs the marketing and public relations programs at USC Sumter, including the dissemination of news and information concerning USC Sumter, its faculty, staff, and student body, both internally and externally. The Director of Marketing and Public Relations reports directly to the Campus Dean and is a key member of the University leadership team and manages all marketing and public relations functions. A bachelor’s degree and 2 or more years of experience is required, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience. The successful candidate must: demonstrate expertise in computer software required for production of publications and advertising (Adobe); demonstrate exceptional ability to communicate effectively; and have a record of success in Marketing and Public Relations and working with a team to meet objectives. The Director will:

  • Create content, manage the scheduling of posts, and track social media data on all platforms.
  • Work directly with the Assistant Dean of Enrollment Management to create effective communications plans for each stage of the admissions cycle. (Salesforce and Target X experience preferred).
  • Develop and implement a strategic marketing plan based on current market trends.
  • Manage third-party marketing relationships and proactively seek opportunities for additional partnerships.
  • Track and report Google Analytics for website and digital marketing effectiveness.
  • Coordinate and manage the dissemination of news and information concerning USC Sumter
  • Approve and assist in the design and production of all circulated brochures, pamphlets, posters, and printed material concerning university programs
  • Serve as campus Web Master and photographer.

Position Summary The Admissions and Financial Aid Assistant works collaboratively with the Admissions and Financial Aid offices to provide support to new inquiries and scholarship recipients. In compliance with FERPA and Title IV requirements, the assistant uses the Student Information System (Banner), Salesforce CRM, and other communication tools to provide timely, professional outreach to prospective students and scholarship applicants.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Utilize Salesforce CRM to review, manage, and document prospective student inquiries and communication activities.
  • Contact prospective students by telephone, email, and text messaging to provide information, answer general questions, and encourage continued engagement with the college.
  • Conduct timely follow-up with prospective students based on established recruitment and communication plans.
  • Accurately document all student contacts, responses, and outcomes in Salesforce.
  • Assist with reports by evaluating outreach efforts, tracking response and success rates, and identifying trends in student engagement.
  • Provide general support to the Admissions Office and assist with recruitment activities, campus events, and other college-sponsored programs as needed.
  • Perform other related duties that support the recruitment and enrollment goals of the college.
  • Provide general support to the Financial Aid Office by managing front desk operations.
  • Assist the Office of Financial Aid in compiling information from scholarship applications and new student information from CRM.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of scholarship recipients, award amounts, and renewal status based on decisions made by the scholarship committee.
  • Verify student enrollment of scholarship recipients for relevant terms and track the submission of required scholarship documents of scholarship recipients.
  • Respond to inquiries about scholarship opportunities, requirements, and application status.
  • Work closely with the Office of Financial Aid and the scholarship committee.
  • Prepare summary reports for the Office of Financial Aid, scholarship committee, and the Development Coordinator.
  • Attend scholarship committee meetings as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to learn and effectively use Salesforce CRM and other technology platforms.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple responsibilities, and follow established procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with students, prospective students, and families.
  • Dependable, self-motivated, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, student-centered environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle student information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in college admissions, recruitment, customer service, sales, call center operations, record-keeping, or related field.
  • Experience using Salesforce or another customer relationship management (CRM) system.
  • Experience using a Student Information System, such as Banner.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite programs, especially Excel and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with higher education enrollment, recruitment processes, and the maintenance of financial aid records.

Work Schedule

37. 5 hours per week (7.5 hours per day). Full-time weekly work schedule focused primarily on CRM operations, the management of leads and inquiries, and maintaining and tracking accurate scholarship information.
