My Honors College

Advising and Support

All Honors students are supported by a coordinated model for advising and student experience. You will work with an undergraduate academic advisor who has expertise in Honors requirements and your academic major. Your advisor will guide you through the Honors curriculum, help you make strategic course selections and ensure you stay on track for degree completion.

In addition, Honors students receive individual support through our Student Experience Program. You will be assigned a student experience coordinator within the Honors College. Your coordinator will focus on your broader Honors experience, helping you explore your interests, connect to meaningful opportunities and build relationships that support your academic, personal and professional goals. This includes guidance on Beyond the Classroom opportunities such as study abroad, internships, undergraduate research and service learning.

Together, your advisor and coordinator provide a comprehensive support system to help you make the most of the opportunities available at the University of South Carolina and the South Carolina Honors College.

Advising for Incoming First-Year Students

As an Honors College student, you have priority registration for fall courses to enroll in classes before attending New Student Orientation. You will participate in a special Honors orientation session during your regular on-campus orientation. Your Honors College advising and course registration for incoming first-year students is completed during a virtual appointment in May and early June. Learn more about the first-year advising process in Honors.

Pre-Health Pathways

The Honors College strives to meet the needs of our students pursuing careers in the health care field by providing resources to make students career-ready. This includes access to experts across a variety of health care fields, support in developing strong post-graduate application materials and obtaining internships and shadowing opportunities.
