Why did you choose USC Rice School of Law?
I chose USC because of its strong sense of community. From the moment I interacted with students, faculty, and alumni, it felt like a place where people genuinely wanted to see each other succeed. Growing up in Columbia, I have seen this strong sense of community from a young age. I was looking for a collaborative environment rather than a competitive one, and USC really stood out in that respect.
What advice would you give a first-year law student?
Be kind to everyone! The people you meet during your first year will become your classmates, future colleagues, and part of your professional network, so building positive relationships really matters. I would also recommend creating a consistent routine early on. Having a study schedule, making time to work out, and getting enough sleep can make a huge difference. Law school is demanding, and good habits help you stay productive while avoiding burnout!
What accomplishment are you most proud of?
I was awarded a scholarship at the end of my 1L year that recognized one student who demonstrated dedication to the legal profession, academic excellence, a commitment to public service, and kindness toward fellow students. Receiving this award was especially meaningful because it recognized not only my academic progress, but also the type of classmate and future attorney I strive to be.
