Program Overview
The purpose of this program is to engage faculty in the Schools of Medicine (Columbia and Greenville) in reflective teaching practices that will enable them to continuously improve their teaching and build their capacity in the areas of adult learning principles, learning design, course development, and teaching delivery. The RTPforME program is a cohort model and offered through live, interactive webinars, asynchronous modules, instructional design support, and a teaching project.
Program Outcomes
Upon completing RTPforME, participants will be able to:
- Reflect on current and future teaching practices
- Apply adult learning theories and frameworks to plan learning
- Develop instructional materials and content
- Incorporate active learning strategies into teaching
- Apply best practices for teaching
- Develop a teaching project for improving an aspect of teaching practice
Program Format
RTPforME consists of live, interactive webinars, asynchronous modules, one-on-one consultations with members of the program team, and a final teaching project. Each asynchronous module should take between 1 and 1.5 hours. The RTPforME program is cohort-based, and members are provided with a Cohort Leader, an experienced instructional designer who will coach them through the program. Besides the interactive webinars, there are no group meeting times. All participants will be given access to a program Blackboard Course after acceptance.

Program Requirements
- Complete an individually tailored teaching project
- Complete asynchronous modules and activities
- Participate in live, interactive webinars and one-on-one consultations
- Reflect on the learning experience
