What is an LLC and Why Is It Important to Faculty?

- Enables interdisciplinary collaboration, mentorship, and programmatic innovation.
- Provides a leadership opportunity for faculty to enhance student success and retention in health sciences disciplines.
- Promotes faculty visibility and influence in undergraduate education and university initiatives.

They facilitate professional development opportunities for students by organizing corporate visits, alumni networking events, and talks led by professionals in the health sciences field.
A key part of the director’s role involves fostering peer mentorship and leadership development, as well as actively engaging with students in both structured programming and informal activities. The director is also expected to promote experiential learning, undergraduate research, education abroad, and encourage student participation in community activities, and enhance faculty-student interactions. Additionally, the Faculty Director will support and recruit campus and community partners to strengthen the LLC’s offerings and impact.
