University 101 Programs

Ph.D. Students Interested in Becoming U101 Instructors

Ph.D. students who teach University 101 at the University of South Carolina will have the opportunity to impact first-year student education, learning, and success while gaining teaching experience in a structured and supportive environment.

The application period for fall 2025 has closed. More information about the 2026 application is coming soon. 

Requirements for Ph.D. Students

To teach University 101, applicants must have a master's degree. Successful applicants will also need to complete the three-day Teaching Experience Workshop, which will be offered on:

  • January 7-9, 2025 (FULL)
  • February 7, 14, and 21, 2025 (FULL)
  • March 11-13, 2025 (FULL)
  • May 13-15, 2025 (FULL)
  • June 10-12, 2025 (FULL)

University 101 Instructors are also required to participate in regular professional development opportunities offered by University 101 Programs.
