McCausland Foundation Programs

The McCausland Foundation Programs provide new opportunities for students and faculty in the McCausland College of Arts and Sciences. The programs support research, teaching and student career readiness activities while helping to develop faculty as teachers and mentors.

The McCausland Foundation Programs were established through a $75 million endowment gift from alumnus Peter McCausland (’71 history) and his wife, Bonnie, beginning in 2013. The motivation for their gift was a desire to strengthen the liberal arts education offered at the University of South Carolina — an education that shaped McCausland’s career as chairman and CEO of Airgas, Inc. These programs bring that vision to life.

McCausland Faculty Fellowship

The McCausland Faculty Fellowship is a three-year fellowship available to early career faculty who bring innovation to their research and teaching. Fellows explore new areas of research and share findings in their field and beyond.

McCausland Innovation Fund

The McCausland Innovation Fund aids faculty in developing new programs, courses and research ventures that use new technologies to provide students with unique opportunities and prepare them with the skills needed for a rapidly evolving future. This program is currently being restructured, but past awards can be viewed here.

McCausland Student Internship and Career Readiness

This program provides paid summer internship opportunities for undergraduates and supports a variety of activities that help students prepare for successful careers. Faculty can partner with the Office of Undergraduate Studies to support career readiness in the curriculum.

Challenge the conventional. Create the exceptional. No Limits.
