Since 2019, the Social Media Insights Lab has transformed online conversations into real-world impact.
Our mission is twofold: to conduct novel, innovative social AI research that advances both academia and industry, and to develop communication- and information-oriented data scientists prepared to lead their fields into a data-driven future.
Powered by industry-leading platforms including Sprinklr and ViralMoment, and strengthened through our partnership with Vurvey Labs, the Lab uses AI-enhanced tools to examine conversations across Instagram, X, TikTok, Reddit, news outlets and more. We identify emerging trends, measure sentiment, and uncover what people are saying in real time.
Students and researchers use these insights to explore the issues that matter most — from public health and politics to sports and entertainment. We also partner with companies and organizations to make sense of the social media landscape, translating data into research, strategy, and smarter decisions.
The Social Media Insights Lab shows how online conversations shape the world around us — and prepares the next generation of leaders to understand and act on them.
