Background
Priyank Arora is an associate professor of management science and a Moore Fellow at the Darla Moore School of Business, University of South Carolina. Arora is interested in advancing the understanding of operational decision-making within and across organizations that are motivated by social and environmental considerations such as the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals. His current research interests fall under the umbrella of socially responsible operations—specifically, nonprofit operations, and inclusive and sustainable operations.
Arora’s research has been published in top-tier journals, including Manufacturing and Service Operations Management, Production and Operations Management, and Journal of Operations Management. His research has inspired improvements in operational practices at nonprofits (e.g., those empowering domestic violence survivors and homeless individuals), government organizations (e.g., those administering subsidy welfare programs), and social enterprises (e.g., essential service providers in emerging economies). Further, his research has received numerous prestigious academic awards from professional organizations, such as INFORMS Public Sector OR and Service Science sections, and the M&SOM society. He currently serves as senior editor for Production and Operations Management, and associate editor for Journal of Operations Management and Decision Sciences Journal.
Arora holds a PhD in business administration from Georgia Institute of Technology, a post-graduate certificate in management (equivalent to an MBA) from the Indian School of Business, and a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the University of Delhi. Prior to an academic career, he worked as a senior software engineer at Samsung Electronics.
