Research
Dr. Ebner’s expertise is in fundamentals of adsorption not just limited to the understanding of both kinetics and thermodynamics associated with adsorption processes but also in the design and development of novel processes for gas phase separation, including pressuring swing adsorption (PSA), temperature swing adsorption (TSA), concentration swing adsorption and Gas Chromatography. Dr. Ebner’s also has expertise in high gradient magnetic separations (HGMS) for the removal and separation of weakly magnetic materials, hydrogen storage, and adsorptive compression.
Dr. Ebner's major research interests today are any gas separation process involving purification, enrichment, recovery and removal of any gas species via principles of adsorption. These processes can be either thermodynamically driven or kinetically driven with materials used not just limited to physical adsorbents but also to chemisorptive materials involving reversible chemical reactions to drive gas separation. Today efforts are mostly focused in carbon capture, ammonia concentration, methane concentration, Xe and Kr recovery and concentration, c4+ recovery. Development of high temperature catalytic adsorptive reactors is also part of Dr. Ebner’s current interest.
