Application

Your application takes you one step closer to a Tier 1 research university, exciting partnerships with local hospital systems and an innovative curriculum that will set you up as a leader in your chosen field. Our graduates are quite competitive for matching into residencies at respected institutions across the nation in a variety of specialties.

How to Apply

The American Medical College Application Service® (AMCAS®) is the AAMC's centralized medical school application processing service.  We use the AMCAS application service as well as a secondary application for the School of Medicine Columbia.

After you Apply

It takes AMCAS four to six weeks to verify all your information before turning it over to us. Please use this valuable interim to prepare for your interview and continue any clinical or volunteer opportunities with which you are involved. Be sure to review our Admissions Timeline and ensure all your supplementary materials are submitted.   If you have additional questions, you may find them here.

Letters of Recommendation

You'll need to submit three individual letters of recommendation or a committee evaluation with your AMCAS application. We highly recommend that two of these letters be from faculty in the sciences, so that we may better understand your abilities in the basic sciences. We will consider a maximum of five letters.  AMCAS has helpful information on how to request letters from your recommenders and what information should be included in the letters.

Interviews

Like many medical schools across the United States, our interviews for the 2024 application cycle will remain virtual and will be conducted via Zoom in our AMP application system, on Wednesday afternoons from September 2023 – March 2024. Interviewing does help us get to know you better and help you decide if our program is right for you. We plan to hold several on campus events for accepted students and applicants invited for interviews in Fall 2023 and Spring 2024.

At the interview stage, we are extremely selective. We typically only interview 375 students out of 3,800+ applicants.

How to Prepare for Your Interview

  • Do a series of mock interviews with your undergraduate career services
  • Dress professionally
  • Be prepared to talk about your clinical and volunteer experience
